Public Service
Planning, land use policy, and local government in Snohomish County.
Current Role
Serving as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Everett, reviewing land use applications, development proposals, variance requests, and long-range planning decisions. The commission makes recommendations to the City Council on matters affecting Everett's built environment and growth strategy.
Focus areas include infill development, transportation impact analysis, fiscal sustainability of growth, and the relationship between land use decisions and Everett's broader housing and infrastructure needs.
Prior Service
Seven years on the Lake Stevens City Council during a period of significant growth in Snohomish County. Participated in budget deliberations, land use policy decisions, utility planning, and municipal governance for a rapidly expanding community.
Developed a practical understanding of how local government budget constraints, state mandates, and community expectations intersect — experience that directly informs my current work on the Everett Planning Commission and my columns in the Herald.
